Linda El Halabi is an associate in the debt finance team at A&O Shearman. She is dual qualified in civil law and common law, having been admitted to practice in both Ontario and Quebec, Canada. Linda started her career in Toronto before moving to the Middle East. She acts for lenders and borrowers on cross-border lending transactions and also advises clients on the local UAE law aspects of their financing and derivatives transactions. This article introduces the latest legislation adopted in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), one of the Middle East’s leading financial centres, in respect of secured transactions.
